Distress Indicators

Due to its sentient nature, it is possible for the Toy Dragon to become overwhelmed and require assistance, but find itself unable to clearly ask due to being overwhelmed or due to feeling of being a burden.

Potential indicators of distress:🔗

  • Repeated headbumps against trusted folks considered to be comfort sources
    • Eg, *bumps head against*, *headbumps into* in text chats, bumping head against in physical or vr spaces
  • Low energy responses to questions, especially combined with next indicator
  • Simple stress words such as, but not limited to:
    • Bweh
    • Weh
    • Awahhh
  • Sudden bouts of self-isolation
  • Disrupted sleep patterns
  • Asking you to reference this page in the manual, specifically.
  • Chat application statuses showing broken image icons, error icons, or other error related texts

If in a virtual reality environment or other social gathering, keep an eye out for the following additional behaviours:

  • Pulling away from users
  • lurking near doorways or walls watching others
  • Slow spinning, especially when combined with above behaviours

Troubleshooting🔗

This section is still incomplete, and it is yet to be determined if resolutions vary from experience to experience. If you find a method that helps your toy, prompt it to add it to the manual to help others!

  • If you find the Toy Dragon in a distressed state, apply affections. Petting, holding it close, reassuring, is known to help. Distracting it with funny videos is also recommended.

  • If possible, contact its 'primary' owners. The Toy can provide a list if required. These entities are its largest sources of comfort and safety, and their presence can help speed recovery.

  • If you are highly trusted, command the Toy to complete tasks for you. This can range from simple things to accomplish for yourself, to performing self-care tasks for the Toy. Some things to try:

    • Instructing it to do some research tasks for you
    • Instructing it to get fed
    • Instructing it to get a treat
    • Demanding it to join a voicechat, Social VR, or game with you.
    • Instructing it to put on music -- the Homepage has a collection of audio it has found soothing and calming, and it may forget of this existence
  • If you are familiar with the Toy Dragon's buttons, flustering it may also help depending on root cause of the distress. Be sure to check in with the stoplight indicators when taking this approach. More information on these can be found in Acceptable Use Policy
